Connie M. Florez is the Founder/CEO of a Hula Girl Productions 2003. A production company developed to strive for the highest accomplishments in independent multimedia works. Creating an essence of storytelling that transcends the audience for a lifetime. Embracing the infusion of today’s digital technology to perpetuate yesterdays stories through the medium of film.

Connie was the co-founder/producer of Zang Pictures, Inc. She was Executive Producer for the award winning short, Constructions, which was a juried First Place award winner and Audience Award winner in the short documentary category at the First Annual QSFA 2000 (sponsored by PlanetOut/IFilm.) Constructions, also received recognition among the Best Films of 2001 (short film category) in the Sapphos Movie Awards (Girlfriends Magazine) and the Adam Baran Award for best short film 2001 and recently received distribution by the National Asian American Telecommunications Association.

Ms. Florez produced the digital feature documentary, Ke Kulana He Mahu; Remembering A Sense Of Place, which premiered at the Washington D.C. Asian Pacific American Film Festival, on October 19, 2001 at the Smithsonian Institute; The Hawaii International Film Festival sellout favorite in 2001; and The San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival also a sell out favorite in 2002. The National Endowment for the Arts, D.C. (NEA) as a part of their curriculum training Ke Kulana He Mahu, is utilized for the Humanities and Civil Rights Program. Ke Kulana He Mahu was also a recipient of the 2002 Frameline/Horizons Film and Video Completion Award and is currently touring film Festivals from Australia to Berlin and was broadcasted by WNET in New York (PBS) in June 2003. Ke Kulana He Mahu has received notriety from such publications as: Los Angeles Times, Variety Magazine, Filmmaker Magazine, the San Francisco Chronicle, AsianWeek, the Honolulu Advertiser, the Honolulu Weekly, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, the Chicago Tribune, and director Darren Aronofsky of Requiem for a Dream.

Connie’s recent works include the following: 1) titled, "Ho'oponopono", a short film, as the Director/Producer/Writer and is currently in post-production.
2) titled, Ka ‘Upena Kiloi,a short film, as a Producer/Assistant Director and is funded by Pacific Islanders in Communications-PIC.

Producer for the independent feature film titled, THE PROBLEM WITH BEING..., 16mm currently in post- production. Shot entirely in Hawai'i.

Other work experience as a 2nd2nd Assistant Director for The Fishbowl Project, screenplay by Kayo Hatta, scheduled to air on National Public Broadcast & PBS Hawai’i during the spring of 2006.

Connie currently serves as a Director of Film Programming for the Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival since 2003. Also serving as a current Board Member and former Executive Director for the Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation, a 501c3 organization since 1996. (www.hglcf.org & www.hrff.org)

Ms. Florez's most current work in progress is a feature documentary titled, "The Glades Project", as Director/Producer/Writer. Funding by The Paul Robeson Fund;Hawaii People's Fund-Funding Exchange.
